Why Geriatric Patients May Require Suctioning.
There are many reasons why geriatric patients may require frequent suctioning. These include:
- Inability to swallow effectively
- Paralysis due to previous strokes
- Dementia or decreased level of consciousness
- Stoma or other fixed airway device
